in brief

White Design offers a consultancy service which includes master-planning, local area action plans, design codes, sustainable buildings policies and design guidance for local authorities, housing associations and voluntary organisations.

Consultancy

Through our consultancy advice service, we are developing a service portfolio which supports the client through the complete life cycle of a building process. This has grown through the practical delivery of our architectural approach, allowing us to deliver a wide range of consultancy projects across all sectors, including:

  • Strategic brief setting and policy guidance
  • Sustainable design and construction advice, scheme design and detailed design
  • Advocating low carbon and sustainable lifestyles and promoting efficient building management approaches
  • Identifying opportunities for re-use of both physical design elements and best practice processes
  • Developing strategies for retrofitting and re-habiting our existing built environment

White Design consultancy activities include master-planning, local area action plans and the production of design codes as well as the development of sustainable buildings policies and design guidance for local authorities.

In public-private partnerships we provide the role of sustainability champion with large BSF (Building Schools for the Future) consortia. We have a particular expertise in education for sustainable development and we aim to ensure this is embedded within the (LEP) Local Education Partnership.  At a building level we always seek to maximise opportunities to use school environments as teaching and learning tools for sustainable development.

Our aim is to reduce the ecological footprint of the existing built environment both through design and by engaging with local communities to help them live and work more sustainably.  We believe this is possible by promoting a sustainable future that speaks of more not less. More community cohesion, more healthy and safe environments, more efficient systems, more ownership and control, more affordability and greater value.
